A healthy litter starts with proper monitoring. Our pregnancy monitoring vet team works closely with you throughout your dam’s gestation, keeping a watchful eye on her health and the development of her puppies.
- Early Pregnancy Confirmation Around day 30, we can perform a pregnancy ultrasound for your dog to confirm she’s expecting and check for early fetal heartbeats. This early peek gives us valuable information about how the pregnancy is progressing and helps us plan ahead for any breed-specific considerations.
- Puppy Count X-Rays Once your dam reaches day 50 or later, we use low-radiation digital radiography to get an accurate puppy count. Knowing an approximate number of puppies to expect during delivery is both exciting and essential. If your dam stops laboring before all puppies are born, you’ll know immediately that something’s wrong.
- Pre-Whelping Health Checks In the final weeks of pregnancy, we’ll make sure your dam is in optimal condition for delivery. We’ll discuss nutrition, nesting, and what to watch for as her due date approaches.
