Kiera earned her Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, with a concentration in Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, from the historic Virginia State University, graduating with honors. She then pursued her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she honed her clinical skills and deepened her passion for serving both animals and the people who love them.

Dr. Sweetenberg’s professional interests include theriogenology, surgery, holistic medicine, exotic animal care, and zoo medicine. After vet school, she moved to Las Vegas and trained closely under her beloved mentor, sharpening her surgical expertise and deepening her love for reproductive medicine. That hands-on experience confirmed what she’d always known: she was meant to work with all animals, from the everyday to the extraordinary.

Her commitment extends far beyond the exam room. As a mentor, she’s passionate about opening doors for aspiring veterinarians-especially those from underrepresented communities who may not see themselves reflected in the field. She believes knowledge is power, and she’s on a mission to give it freely-whether through mentorship, client education, or simply being a visible face in spaces where representation is needed.

Her ultimate goal? To open a network of mixed animal practices across the country. These clinics will offer top-tier medical care while serving as hubs for education, outreach, and mentorship.
